To recognize the extraordinary effort of our teachers and staff, the PTO is launching a Franklin Community Appreciation Initiative. Last week we provided all staff members with a “coffee on us” by giving them each a small Dunkin’ Donuts coffee card. This week we are organizing a “Gratitude Gallery” of student/family posters to be hung on the fence surrounding the staff parking lot. Here is how you can help: Work with your child(ren) to create a big, bright, colorful sign on poster board to express your family’s thanks to our staff members. Use waterproof markers/paint if possible. Deliver your sign(s) to 8 Warwick Rd (right across from school – leave signs on the porch) no later than end of day on Friday 9/18. In order to limit “gathering” on school grounds, the PTO Exec Board will handle the hanging of signs. Our goal is to have them displayed on Monday, 9/21 (assuming good weather!).

Our Principal, Mrs. Tierney, hosted a Q&A session on August 26th for families of students enrolled at Franklin for the 2020-2021 school year. In short, Franklin is ready for students to arrive on September 1st! A summary of the session is included below. Procedures A: Is Franklin on track to open on schedule on Tuesday, September 1? Q: Yes! Franklin is on track to open as planned. Plexiglass arrived yesterday (but will not be installed on every desk), PPE is here, the building is clean, spacing is done, classrooms have been stripped of extra paper and furniture, etc. The only exception in our readiness is a delay in Chromebook delivery. We will initially be deploying devices to those in serious need. If there is a technology need in your home regardless of child’s age, please let Mrs. Tierney know. Q: What is the mask policy and how will it be enforced? A: The expectation is extremely clear that everyone on school grounds is required to wear a mask. The only exception is for a medical reason or some approved special services accommodation. If a student removes their mask, they will be asked to replace it. If this behavior continues, there […]

The Franklin PTO is eager to welcome new families, whether rising 1st graders or families moving into the district for the first time. We know that starting a new school can be overwhelming (especially this year!), and we want to support new families in their transition. While we regrettably can’t organize a new family play date or parent coffee as we normally do, this year we are offering a “Franklin Friends” program that matches incoming families with existing families. Hopefully this will provide new families with a warm welcome and a trusted resource for questions or advice. If you would like to be part of the “Franklin Friends” program, whether as a host family or a new/incoming family, please email Casey Cohen at caseycohen23@gmail.com.
