A very big thank you to Laura Heil, Donna Patel, Erica Malik, Elizabeth Somerlot, Susan Flannery Huffman and Ms. Stochaj for transforming FLIC into a fantastic Book Fair! If you were not able to make it or want to shop more, our online link is live until Wednesday, February 5th on the Fair website! A special thank you from the Book Fair co-chairs to everyone for another successful event this year! The children’s enthusiasm and excitement over the Fair and selecting books is always the best part! It was heartening to see the generosity of the students in selecting books for the CHOP drive. We also heard lots of great feedback about eWallet (the cashless way to pay). Thank you to parents for your support of your children’s love of reading, to parent volunteers who contributed their time and energy, to teachers and staff for their flexibility and a huge Thank You to Ms. Stochaj for her guidance, inspiration, hard work and letting us take over FLIC!  We hope everyone is enjoying reading all their new books! In addition, a special thank you from Annabelle O’Brien and Alex Gottstein for donating books to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia during this year’s Book Fair. HELP MAKE THE FRANKLIN FAIR AUCTION OUT OF THIS WORLD!   The Franklin Fair blasts off in just 82 days!   While our annual fair is a day of fun for our community, it is also our school’s largest fundraiser with the proceeds benefiting our children and their teachers. The majority of the funds raised come from the Silent Auction — the hottest auction in town! Each year, the hard working Auction Committee publishes a wish list of items and experiences needed for the auction. Please consider donating an item, or you can make a monetary donation and we’ll pick it up for you.   If you have an idea (perhaps you don’t want your ticket after-all to the International Space Station!), please reach out to Rana Barclay (ranabarclay@gmail.com).   Thank you for making this year’s auction OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thank you to all fifteen Franklin students who submitted covers for our musical Playbill contest. All of the submissions were extremely creative and well done and showed a great amount of thought and effort. We were most impressed by how each design showed an individual interpretation of the show. This was the hardest year to make a decision! Congratulations to Kate Shin for her design which will be featured on the cover of the Playbill.    Come fly away with us (thank you Caroline Barbato for the great tagline!) on February 7th at 7:00 pm, February 8th at 5:00 pm or February 9th at 2:00 pm to Never Never Land to see Franklin’s production of Peter Pan JR.    $10 Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at either of these sites:   https://Franklinpeterpanjr.brownpapertickets.com https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4506500 Questions? Dear Franklin Parents: This year, Franklin is “host” to SEF’s Spring for Excellence on Friday, March 27th at the Summit Elks. It is SEF’s largest fundraiser of the year, and the money raised goes directly back into our Summit schools, as we have seen year after year in the grants awarded throughout the district. As the school host for the year, Franklin parents are responsible for organizing and running the event, from the Silent Auction to Food and Beverages to Music. We’ve already started to put together Committee Chairs for most of the major aspects of the event, but we need your help to round them out and provide as much support as possible – including that night! Please follow the Sign Up Genius link to see where you can make a difference: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B49ACA72CA0FC1-sefspring SEF KICK OFF EVENING To kick off planning for the event, we would like to invite you to Leah Enthoven’s house next Thursday, January 23rd at 7:30pm (14 Dorchester Road). Please consider attending to learn more about SEF and Spring for Excellence. SEF Board members will be there to answer any questions you have about SEF’s role in our schools.
