Franklin School Cub Scout Pack 360 will be collecting gently used children’s books (Pre-K to 8th Grade) as part of Summit’s annual — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, Monday, January 18th. During the week of January 11-15, Franklin Families can drop off books in our collection box outside the main office at Franklin. Books will be delivered to the American Red Cross at 12:00 noon on January 15th, so all books MUST be donated no later than 11:30am on the 15th. The American Red Cross will be donating the books to needy Newark area schools. Any questions, please contact Debbie Silberstein (daznd28@gmail.com).

Daniel Kirk is Coming to Franklin School on Thursday, January 14th! Sign ups continue for Crazy 8’s math! Crazy 8’s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities. It’s math gone wild, nothing like your usual math club! Lay out the sticks to make mystical repeating patterns, and even build a gleaming Egyptian pyramid. Then flick off the lights to see it all glow! Time of Your Life: Find out what makes you tick. Race to do crazy stunts, “be” a clock, and see if you have the winning birthday! Toilet Paper Olympics: Bet you never knew sports and toilet paper could go together, huh? Get on a roll with your Olympian skills in the shot put, the long jump, and the relay race. Spy Training: See if you have what it takes to be a spy, and break the codes to the clues to find the hidden treasure! Flying Marshmallows: Send marshmallows flying through the air using popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Figure out what positions work best, then measure the flight to prove it.
