One of the most popular vegetables, and our Vegetable of the Month, is the carrot. The carrot is usually orange in color, although purple, red, white, and yellow varieties do also exist. Carrots are in the Top 10 most economically important global vegetable crops and are one of the earliest vegetables grown by civilization. What is the National School Lunch Program? The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides funding to both public and private schools so that they may, in return, provide free or reduced-cost lunches to students. The majority of the nation’s schools, including the Summit School District, are participating in this program. Schools in the NSLP must follow specific criteria, including those outlined in the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Whole grain requirements, milk allowances, calorie ranges, and sodium limits are just a few of those outlined. There is no school on January 18th for MLK Day. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist who led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. Crazy 8 Math Registration is closed, we had a wonderful response and a full house! As a reminder the dates are: Grades, 1, 2, 3(section 1), & 4/5 Thursdays 3- 4:15pm March 17, 24, 31 April  7, 21, 28 May 5, 12 (snow date May 19)   Grade 3 (section 2) Friday  3- 4:15pm March 18, April 1, 8, 22, 29 May 6, 13, 20 (snow date May 27) We were able to accommodate everyone who registered.  You will receive notification of your students room number and teacher in February.  We look forward to Math Time Fun!
