“Yoga in the PARCC” will be offered to students in grades 3, 4 and 5 during their PE classes.  This will take place the week prior to standardized testing days (2/23 – 2/27) to help students develop a better understanding of Yoga as a whole. Parent Volunteers (who are certified yoga instructors) will co-teach alongside of Mrs. Burr during this event. Physically, Yoga is beneficial to children because it improves flexibility and strength. Mentally, it helps improve focus and alleviate stress.  We hope teachers, parents and most importantly our students find this unit to be helpful not only during testing but as a lifelong activity.

There is still 1 opportunity to be a part of the PTO Executive Board for 2015-2016 and 2016-2017!  This dynamic group of parents and teachers work together to move Franklin forward and provide our children with an environment in which to thrive.  Don’t think you are “PTO” material?  Think again!!  Available position is: Assistant Treasurer:  You would be responsible for all funds of the PTO, accurate recording of receipts and expenditures, present the budget and communicate the status to Committee Chairs – helps if you love spreadsheets and money, but neither is essential! The term is for two years, as Assistants become Primary in the second year. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Clara Jenkins at clarasjenkins229@gmail.com or 973-303-2287.
