In an effort to help parents better understand the new PARCC testing, scheduled for this spring, Dr. Julie Glazer and the administration will host an information night for grades 3 through 8 on Tuesday evening, January 20, 2015 at 7pm at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School. Information will be available regarding the testing schedule, an overview of what to expect, details about the assessments at each level, and a look at sample test questions. An information night for high school parents will be held on Friday, February 13 at 9am at Summit High School.

Speak Up Summit, formed in 1995, are advocates for the city’s public schools and they are a partnership of local community leaders, business owners and concerned citizens who believe that an excellent public school system is vital to the well-being of the entire community. –REGULAR Speak Up Summit Meeting, Tues. Jan. 20, 8:30am, 175 Colonial Road, Summit. –STATE OF THE DISTRICT MEETING: Speak Up Summit’s annual discussion with the Administration and the Board of Education will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 9:00 am at Marco Polo restaurant. 9-9:30 meet and greet, program begins at 9:30. This is an informal discussion. No set agenda, but expect to discuss the “hot items” impacting the district now such as PARCC testing, Common Core, budgeting, teacher contracts, full-day kindergarten, block scheduling, construction projects and much more.
