FRANKLIN FIELD DAY IS WEDNESDAY JUNE 15!  We need parent volunteers for field day! Please note that Field Day 2016 is going to be a different format than prior years.  This year, there will be an Olympics theme and the children will be participating in games similar to those that are in the Olympics.  Just like the Olympics, each class will be assigned a country to compete for and will wear those country’s colors.  First Grade and Second Grade will do the same 10 stations, as always, and similarly, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade will rotate through the same 10 stations.  However, parent volunteers (2 at each station) will remain at the same station throughout the afternoon. They will not rotate and thus, will only need to learn how to do one game. At the conclusion of field day activities, ice pops will be distributed and then the teachers will face the 5th graders in the annual Teacher v. Students volleyball game.  All younger grades will remain outside to watch and cheer on the game. The schedule for Field Day is below: Parent Volunteers Sign In (on soccer field) 10:45 – 11:00 Parent Volunteer Orientation (on soccer field) 11:00 – […]

Go to www.shopttkits.com and enter the number 21280 to order your child’s kit. Remember to select the grade that your child will be in for the 2016-2017 school year. Once you have selected the appropriate grade, you will see the complete list created by the teachers for that grade. Orders are due by June 24th. Kits will be delivered directly to Franklin and the PTO will distribute all kits directly to your child’s classroom for the 1st day of school.  *A small portion of the savings will go to the PTO, in lieu of other small fundraisers, to help us streamline our fundraising efforts.  School Kits Letter

So much has been happening at Franklin this spring!  Now that all the declining trees have been removed, the front of Franklin looks great!  Arbor Day saw two beautiful new trees planted: a magnolia tree in the peace garden and a flowering silverbell in the grass nearby. With the generosity of the BOE and four Franklin families, we have ordered 6 benches to create our new “Outdoor Reading Circle”.  Classes will able to spend time outdoors with the placement of these benches.  Rodrigo and his team spent many hours refinishing our three old wooden benches which will be returned to their home in the Peace Garden. The 5th Grade Girl Scouts have also been helping – they spent time this weekend repainting the recess basketball court lines.  The blacktop looks great with bright white lines clearly marking the space again.  They also helped organize the purchase of a picnic table for the recess area with contributions from the 1st, 2nd and 4th grade Franklin girl scout troops.
