Dear Summit Families, As many of you are aware, Ecuador is going through very difficult times due to the recent earthquakes over the past month. The effects of these earthquakes have stretched worldwide, even reaching families of our own community. The Hispanic Parent Association of LCJSMS together with the LCJSMS PTO and Spanish teacher, Tim Margiotta, have decided to coordinate a community effort to aid those affected by these disasters. In particular, we will lend financial support to the non-profit organization, Mission Santa Maria (www.MissionSantaMaria.com), that in the last month has received more than 45 orphans from the areas hit by the quakes. In addition, we will join forces with St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Summit to send needed items to Ecuador at the end of this month. We ask for your help and participation. To make a monetary donation, please donate online or submit cash or a check written to Mission Santa Maria or the LCJSMS PTO and deliver to any school main office (put Mission Santa Maria fundraiser in the memo). If you would like to contribute items, the attached flyer lists the items needed and the details of the drop-off. The fundraiser will run Monday, […]
