Musical

The Winter Musical is a long-standing Franklin Elementary School tradition! The musical enrichment program is a fantastic opportunity for our fourth and fifth graders to participate in a musical production from start to finish. The program has three components: cast, stagecraft crew, and tech crew. Students can register for any component they choose for a fee, which helps offset the cost of putting on the show.

The Franklin Musical Enrichment Program does not make any cuts! All students are welcome to participate, regardless of their experience or talent. Those opting to join the cast will go through an audition process. Auditions and casting decisions are handled by hired outside directors. Students participating in stagecraft and/or tech will learn all about what happens behind the scenes—from painting backdrops, making props/set pieces to running lights and sound for the show!

We keep it simple! Our final production is a 35-minute musical that typically features about 12 songs and many roles. The program includes rehearsals twice a week directly after school and runs for about 7-8 weeks. The enrichment culminates in 2-3 performances with full costumes, sets, and props. By keeping the program light, most students can maintain their other commitments while still being part of the show. This is truly a wonderful opportunity for your child to shine on stage!

We encourage all parents to attend the parent interest meeting, typically held in October after the show is announced. Program details are sent out at the start of each school year through the PTO newsletter and by direct email to all 4th and 5th grade families.
