At the bake sale on Friday May 15,  Franklin School raised an amazing $2,865, which we donated to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research. http://www.cookiesforkidscancer.org/ 100% of the proceeds we earned will go to provide annual research grants to five leading pediatric cancer centers, including St. Jude’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Texas Children’s Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. A big thanks to the Student Council, Ms. Marino and Ms. Douglas for helping to run the bake sale; all of the kids and parents who baked treats to sell and all of the kids who helped to eat the treats!  You all contributed to our success.

Dear Franklin Friends, Throughout many different times in life you decide to push yourself a little further. Sometimes it’s mentally and sometimes it’s physically. We have decided this year we would take on a physical challenge. On Sept. 27th we will be walking the Boston Marathon Route (26.2 miles) with thousands of other people. We are walking to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund which supports the Dana Farber cancer institute’s mission, which is to conquer all forms of cancer in both children and adults through patient care and research. We hope you’ll support us by making a donation. You can make a donation by clicking on our links. Ms. Chamber’s Link Ms. Stochaj’s Link We thank you in advance for your support! We look forward to an exciting day! Sincerely, Ms. Amy Chambers Ms. Loreli Stochaj

On Friday, May 15, immediately after school, the Student Council is helping to run our 2nd annual bake sale in front of the school to raise money for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research (see https://www.cookiesforkidscancer.org/).  Cookies for Kids’ Cancer provides annual research grants to five leading pediatric cancer centers and 100% of the proceeds we earn will go directly to support this cause.  At the bake sale last year, due to your generosity, we raised $2,914 for this very worthy cause. Please help us to top that amount this year. Every class is responsible for baking at least 24-30 individual baked goods to be sold. Please click here to sign up on Sign Up Genius to bake either brownies, cookies, cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels or rice krispie treats:  Cookies for Kids’ Cancer SignUp Genius.  If anyone wants to bake something nicer to sell, that is welcome too.  Please do not put any nuts in your baked goods and please individually wrap them, either in a plastic Ziploc bag or Saran wrap.  Please drop off your baked goods in the Main Office at Franklin between 11 am- 2 pm on May 15.  If you cannot stop by in that timeframe, then you can send your baked goods in with your child in […]

Thank you to all the students who helped raise money for the American Heart Association last year (2013-2014).  Our school goal was $5,000.00 and we raised $7,334.70!!! This was a new Franklin School record!!! The most money we ever raised prior to this was in 2005-2006 when we raised $4,576.00.  Our top fund raiser was Katya Wardle $895.00, the second highest fund raiser was Nathan Yarnall $475.00, the third highest fund raiser was Amy Potasiewisz $290.00.  1M had the most participants so they won the extra PE period with me! This year’s annual Jump Rope for Heart Event will be held during PE classes the week of February 9th through the 13th.  Fund raising is optional, however all students will have the opportunity to participate in the fun during PE classes! Please consider donating a small amount to the American Heart Association – the money raised goes to develop research for chronic heart conditions and it also helps families of children who were born with heart defects. Our deadline for envelopes and online donations will be February 13, 2015. Another benefit of participating in Jump Rope for Heart is that Franklin School PE department receives $100.00 in gift certificates for […]

We are committed to sending packages overseas as long as there is a need. Several times each year, volunteers gather to sort donated supplies and pack personal care boxes that contain snack and food items, toiletries and personal care items and cards and letters written by students and volunteers.  To date, more than 81,000 packages have been shipped to troops deployed overseas.   The World Food Day was declared in 1979 by the United Nations in honour of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN. According to the UN, this day’s celebration highlights the urgent issues of chronic hunger and promotes positive action through events. The day is also referred to as ‘End Hunger Day’, since it is seen as an opportunity for the global community to unite in an effort to help raise awareness about the global problem of hunger. Franklin School’s food drive for World Food Day will take place from Oct. 20-23. Please donate nonperishable items during this week. The collection box will be in front of the main office. Let’s make a difference!
