Since mid-November, over 90 4th and 5th graders had been diligently preparing to present “SHReK, The Musical, Jr.”.   The children rehearsed three times per week under the direction of Holly Raye. The children’s hard work payed off this past weekend as they performed to sold out crowds.  Franklin’s PTO hired Ms. Raye, a Broadway veteran, after a rigorous interview process this past Fall. Holly and her team, along with parent volunteers and a slew of super enthusiastic children  filled the gym with Ogre’s, Guards, Fiona’s, woodland creatures, fairytale creatures and whole bunch of fun!  It was a Big, Bright, Beautiful Shrek World! Take a look at more pictures under the Musical Tab on our Home page…

Dear Parents, February 17 is a single session day, there will be no lunch service, and schools are closed February 20-21 for Winter Recess and Presidents’ Day. Presidents’ Day dates back to 1800. Following President George Washington’s death in 1799, his February birthday became a perennial day of remembrance. While Washington’s Birthday was an unofficial observance for most of the 1800s, it was not until the late 1870s that it became Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday, and the date was moved. Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present. Adventurous students at Franklin Elementary School can enjoy our Sushi Promotion February 27. Our traveling sushi chef will prepare Vegetable Rolls, California Rolls, and Philadelphia Rolls. None of the rolls served are raw, so even hesitant students often choose to participate. Our sushi chef can answer any questions the students may have about the rolls and their preparation. Each piece costs $.75. Sushi is served with a choice of wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, and CHOP STICKS. Keep an eye out for Sushi Day in Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington schools this April. Pomptonian is pleased to be Summit’s food service provider, and we […]
