Franklin’s production of SHReK The Musical JR. kicks off this week with a “pep rally” on Friday November 4 at 3pm in the Gym for students and their parents.  We will be welcoming the professional creative team of Holly, Simon and Anneliese who we have hired to direct our musical.  Holly and her team introduce us to SHReK and answer any questions that you may have.  All students who are interested in participating in the production (cast or crew) are encouraged to attend. The production packet including registration forms was distributed in last week’s Wednesday folders.  The packet includes all key information for both parents and students so please review it thoroughly.  Registration forms and fees are due no later than Wednesday, November 9th.  You may also bring them to the meeting on Friday to the Shrek “pep rally,” which will be a fun event to kick-off the musical season.

Franklin School Book Fair Tuesday, Nov. 1st 8:30am – 4:00pm AND 7 pm – 8:30pm Wednesday, Nov. 2nd 8:30am – 2:30pm Our annual Book Fair is this Tuesday and Wednesday!  FLIC is transformed into a bookshop stocked with a wide selection of books to appeal to all grades through elementary school, and a smaller selection of books for other ages. All children have an opportunity to purchase books at scheduled class times (see below for class times).  If your schedule doesn’t permit you to attend during the day, please come to our evening session or support this fundraiser by sending money in with your child for their classroom visit.  There is no spending limit. Our teachers will be creating a ‘wish list’ of those books that they would be very grateful to receive for their class library should parents want to make a book donation. So just for this month, hold off making your book purchases on-line, and support the PTO by spending your money at our Book Fair instead If you have any questions about volunteering, contact Jenny Birch at jennybirch@verizon.net or Jamie Kessel at jamiezk22@gmail.com Class Visit Schedule

There’s a colorful new addition to the Franklin blacktop!  Last week a dedicated group of parents spent the day painting a large USA Map behind the school.  The map can be used for numerous recess games and learning opportunities as the children can jump from state to state.  Ask your child if they’ve seen it!  We’d like to thank Adrian Tricker (and his sons), Paula Rush, Glyne Chapman (and his daughter), Christie Engel, Monica Fienemann, Sheila Cheney, and our 8th grade volunteers for all their hard work to make this possible.

Melissa Madden and Maggie Greene are heading up this year’s Franklin Fair, but they still need just a few parents to spearhead TWO key committees to make the Fair a huge success! You don’t need to do it alone…find a friend and have some fun. The first meeting won’t be until after the holidays, so you don’t need to even think about it until 2017! Silent Auction: We need one or two parents to help us secure the goods that we all love to bid on and that help us reach our fundraising goals. We will help you, but we need your leadership to make it happen. Children’s Raffle: It’s the most popular part of the Fair for all the kids! We need a motivated set of parents (one is fine, but two is better!) to help purchase the Raffle items and get them ready for the Fair. Contact Melissa (melissamaddenfamily@gmail.com) or Maggie (mrmccart@yahoo.com) if you are interested. They can give you more details and help you find another parent to help if you need.
