Back to School Night is this Wednesday, September 14th! 6:30 pm: Please join Mrs. Mirrione in the Gym for a welcome presentation. Note, we will not have signups for teacher conferences in the cafeteria beforehand; sign-up genius forms will be posted later that evening, along with class party sign-ups. 7:00 to 7:30 pm: Teacher Presentation in child’s classroom 7:30 to 8:00 pm: 2nd Teacher Presentation for parents with more than one child. This is an identical presentation as the first, just repeated in case you have more than one classroom to visit!

Dear Franklin Families, Cheers to an outstanding start to our school year! Thank you for your support and praise of our staff’s efforts to warmly welcome your children back! Arrival & dismissal: We hope that you’ve enjoyed our teacher meet & greet opportunities provided during arrival this past week. Starting Monday, arrival during our 8:00-8:15 timeframe will begin as follows:  1st and 2nd graders enter the main doors to line up near their respective classrooms as they arrive.  3rd graders line up by class in the Reading Garden courtyard and enter the Warwick Road doors at 8:15.  4th graders line up by class near library doors and enter at 8:15.  5th graders line up by class near 5th grade wing doors on blacktop and enter at 8:15. *Please note: Adult supervision will be provided until 8:15. Students who arrive afterwards will need to be accompanied by a parent and signed in at the main office. Please make every effort to arrive between 8:00-8:15, as we need the time from 8:15-8:30 in our classrooms to take attendance, lunch count, collect homework, etc. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30, so we appreciate students arriving on time and getting settled in prior to the onset of our teaching time. Friends, food, and fun await your entire family at this school community event! Friday, September 23rd 5:00 until 7:00 pm Franklin Field (inside if it rains, but it won’t!) Each ticket is $15 per person and includes a BBQ buffet of hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips, and water. Children under 5 are free; max $40 per family. Entertainment will also be provided! Get ready to dunk the PTO President in the dunk tank and to sing and dance to popular songs! Summer Reading Challenge Readers in grades 2-5 just a reminder that the F.L.I.C. Summer Reading Challenge Forms due by the morning of Friday, September 16, 2016. There will be one winner for grades 2-4 and one winner for grade 5.  Lost the paper? Just write your list on any piece of paper and make sure to include your name and class. Welcome Back! I hope that you and your families had wonderfully relaxing and fun summers! I know getting back into the swing of things can be difficult, so I wish you all an easy-as-can-be transition into the new school year! Personally, I am not looking forward to getting my four boys, grades 4th, 3rd, 1st, and Kindergarten, up and out of the house by 8:00! I am however, looking forward to what I know will be a great school year ahead as the PTO Executive Board, Mrs. Mirrione, and all of the teachers at Franklin, have been working hard to create an excellent year. Mrs. Mirrione and the teachers will inform you about all that they have planned at Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30 pm. Here is a snapshot of what the PTO has planned so far, and I promise, more to come! 1st ever Welcome Back BBQ on September 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00. Book Care Books are used by everyone in our school. It is expected that children take good care of the books they borrow from the library. Things to keep in mind include: reading books with clean and dry hands, turning pages slowly, and always using a bookmark. If a book is returned damaged it will need to be replaced and the family will be charged. Book Borrowing Each week children are allowed to take out up to three items from the library. Exceptions are made when children are working on special projects. Books are to be brought book every week for return and/ or renewal. Please help your child find a special place in your home to keep our books safe. It is your child’s responsibility to return or renew the books every week! If a child has misplaced his/her library book and is in the process of looking for it, please do not pay for the book right away until you have received a notice with instructions for payment.
