Mrs. Mirrione Monday Email: Sept 12th

Dear Franklin Families,

Cheers to an outstanding start to our school year! Thank you for your support and praise of our staff’s efforts to warmly welcome your children back!

  • Arrival & dismissal: We hope that you’ve enjoyed our teacher meet & greet opportunities provided during arrival this past week. Starting Monday, arrival during our 8:00-8:15 timeframe will begin as follows:
  •  1st and 2nd graders enter the main doors to line up near their respective classrooms as they arrive.
  •  3rd graders line up by class in the Reading Garden courtyard and enter the Warwick Road doors at 8:15.
  •  4th graders line up by class near library doors and enter at 8:15.
  •  5th graders line up by class near 5th grade wing doors on blacktop and enter at 8:15.

*Please note: Adult supervision will be provided until 8:15. Students who arrive afterwards will need to be accompanied by a parent and signed in at the main office. Please make every effort to arrive between 8:00-8:15, as we need the time from 8:15-8:30 in our classrooms to take attendance, lunch count, collect homework, etc. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30, so we appreciate students arriving on time and getting settled in prior to the onset of our teaching time. Dismissal for all students is at 3:00 and they exit through their same arrival locations.

  • First New Families Orientation: To complement our PTO’s welcoming efforts, we hosted a new family orientation which included an informational overview and school tour. Based on the enormous turnout and positive feedback, this will now be offered annually and we look forward to enhancing it even further.
  • New aftercare offering: In addition to former aftercare options, we have partnered with The Connection to offer an on-site program. Students are dismissed directly to our cafeteria, where they have a snack, complete homework, play outside, and enjoy activities like arts & crafts. If interested, please email Ms. Napoles.
  • Back to School Night:  I hope that you can join us this Wednesday, September 14th from 6:30-8:00 pm. The first presentation from 6:30-7:00 will be in the multi-purpose room with me, providing you with highlights and plans for our year ahead. This will be followed with two repeat presentations, a half hour each, by homeroom teachers to provide an additional session for students with siblings. Please note that special education teachers and all other teachers will be in their classrooms to meet with you as well during the last half hour session.

Looking forward to a memorable year together,

Mrs. Mirrione
