Beautification Efforts

silverbellSo much has been happening at Franklin this spring!  Now that all the declining trees have been removed, the front of Franklin looks great!  Arbor Day saw two beautiful new trees planted: a magnolia tree in the peace garden and a flowering silverbell in the grass nearby.

With the generosity of the BOE and four Franklin families, we have ordered 6 benches to create our new “Outdoor Reading Circle”.  Classes will able to spend time outdoors with the placement of these benches.  Rodrigo and his team spent many hours refinishing our three old wooden benches which will be returned to their home in the Peace Garden.

The 5th Grade Girl Scouts have also been helping – they spent time this weekend repainting the recess basketball court lines.  The blacktop looks great with bright white lines clearly marking the space again.  They also helped organize the purchase of a picnic table for the recess area with contributions from the 1st, 2nd and 4th grade Franklin girl scout troops.
