Daniel Kirk’s Visit

What a day! Thanks to our generous PTO all of Franklin’s first and seconds enjoyed their visit with author/ illustrator Daniel Kirk. Here are a few prompts to help guide you to discuss the experience with your child.

• Who are the three important people in creating a book? (answer: author, editor, illustrator)
• His first Library Mouse book took a long time to develop. What was the process like? (answer: editor’s suggestion, wrote ABC story in rhyme, found a book like it in a store- canned that idea, saw a mouse in a school library, wrote mouse book about a mouse named Sniff told in rhyme with friends, editor said get rid of friends and change mouse’s name, FINALLY: Library Mouse is born)
